UNESCO-World Heritage Site Mittelrhein
In the west of the Rhein-Lahn-District - between Kaub and Lahnstein - the Rhine forms the natural border to its neighbouring districts. This region has been well-known and popular far beyond its borders for over 200 years. The unique countryside with steep cliffs, vineyards, castles and palaces and historical stamped villages have always lured tourist from all over the world to the lovely Mittelrhein.
Right now a communal administration union is being created whose main task will be to safeguard the World Heritage Site Oberes Mittelrheintal in its economical, social ecological and cultural function and further development. The branch office will probably move into the Visitor Centre at the Lorelei Rock.
